I use 2.5 tablespoons of kalk per 5 gallons in my ATO. I have tried to pour just the clear in my ATO but it still turns milky. I cant even see through my ATO anymore. I have tried to keep it mixed up but it continues to settle. I end up cleaning the ATO out every couple months.

I would like to have the bean style. Maybe on the next tank. I only had two drilled holes and it was already up and running. When I plumbed my return I added ports that I could uncap and run other things off of it just for that issue. That is one serious sump. Wow.

Does anyone elses cleaner shrimp hang out near the overflow? The only time I can get them away from the overflow is to feed the tank. Or at night when I shine a flashlight in there they might be on the closest rock. When I bought them I was hopeing they would be a little more active.

Your going to need to mix it lower to get it to drop. Just dont drop it to fast. Also the cups is just a guideline. I dump salt in my mixing bucket and pour water in until I hit whatever SG I am looking for. I am constantly checking it as I am mixing it. Also both yours and your buddies...

When was the last time the tank was at .025? Did it just jump to .030? Im confused why you would not add more fresh water and bring the tank salinity back down? THen you can focus on your alkalinity which will affect the PH.

When you say you top off as needed, How often is that? I assume you dont use a ATO? And how big is the tank?

Thanks guys. Thats the quickest and easiest way I could come up with hanging the lights. It actually works out pretty well. I can slide them around and place them where I want. I placed the two long boards that go all the way across narrow enough that the lights can never fall in.

Yes I have kids. The only time they even get somewhat excited is when we go pick out a fish. Any other time they could care less about the tank unless their little friends come over and see it then they will explain all the tank inhabitants to them.
