Got plenty of testing stuff, i'll probably frag a few coral soon to try and raise some money for some upgrades though. I'll have to see how that granulated lime works out with raising the ph. P.S. my ph right now after the window has been open for 2 days is 8.08, so i know it's the co2...
I'm assuming this, but this is what i'm looking to get at. Right now my lack of nitrates is causing the phosphates to go up, as the bacteria does not have enough nitrates on order to process the excess phosphates, i don't know the exact ratio. By adding the nitrates and creating more food for...
Will do, thanks for the info, i'm hoping to take off the carbon dosing after a week and see if my numbers stay down, the less i have going on the better for me.
all i have right now is cleaning vinegar, not sure if i can use that or not. Nothing added to it, just a higher concentration i think. Heinz all natural cleaning vinegar.
Algae's already there, lol. I spiked it in the last few days to 5ppm, i'm going to let it fall from there and when it gets to zero again i'll be doing half a teaspoon daily. 1tsp of the product raises my tank about 1ppm or so from what i've measured. po4 is currently measuring .04. This was all...
Thanks, the amount of fish i have is the reason i'm debating on a larger skimmer, as i plan on adding a few more. I think i have about 13 fish in there currently.
Another update, the battle continues now with some bryopsis still along with cyano. I think i got a bad batch of gfo as the reactor still has phosphates coming out of it, so i'm trying another method. Dosing nitrates to bring down phosphates and keep the tank happy. Only on day two of this so...
it's the sealed packets, i doubt it. pinpoint makes them. i'm always hoping somehow the probe is bad though, lol. i ordered the lime media for the co2 scrubber, i'll give it a go, cheap enough to try out. Thanks for the suggestion.
i looked into that but the media from brs was always expensive. I'll order a bag and try it out, my biggest problem is the skimmer bringing in the more oxygenated air is having a hard time competing with the amount of turbulence on the top of my tank inside that is exchanging more co2 rich air...
if my ph were over 7.8 i would be happy, it went down to 7.47 the other night and peaked in the day at 7.69. Thats with a ph probe that was recently calibrated.
Yup. with the current skimmer it will raise it about .1 - .2 ph as opposed to running without the outside air line. If i open my windows my ph goes up about another .3-.4, so there's room for improvement there.
I don't mind derailing either, any help is always appreciated. One of the main reasons for the upgrade honestly is the increased outside air i can pull into the tank to help with ph. This skimmer does help decently but doesn't seem to have enough exchange, at least not for my situation. Any...
