Those are the ratings i believe off of their site, but i tend to go by BRS ratings, which is where i got my other numbers from. I don't have any measurable nutrients at the moment, probably due to the algae getting it before i can measure it, but my nitrates have been zero since I've started the...
going by a similar reef octo skimmer with about the same chf rating, here is the stats on the size tank this would be good for.
Well Stocked Tank - Rated up to 100 gallons
Medium Stocked Tank - Rated up to 160 gallons
Light Stocked Tank - Rated up to 210 gallons
i also run gfo and carbon dose, but i'm seeing more algae growth, and i'm going by the rating, this thing maxes out at 150 gallons with a light to medium load, i have a heavy load, and i plan on adding more. honestly i don't know the exact way to determine it, i'd imagine its a lot like filters...
It's on my current setup, 135 dsa with a 30g sump, so about 150g maybe total water volume. My issue is i like to overfeed with all the anthias and the idol i have in there. This worked perfect when i had less fish.
I may have to part ways with this skimmer, works great, no micro bubbles in my tank, and with a lighter bioload would be great on my tank. Unfortunately i think it's a bit underrated for my tank size and load. I'm looking to upgrade but as money is tight with the new baby, i'd like to see about...
I would agree on getting a large skimmer, i have around 150g total water volume, i got a skimmer rated for about 180-200g on a heavy load, about the biggest i can fit in the sump, but wish i could go even bigger. i'd prefer a skimmer that can handle 250-300g with a heavy bioload. Also, an rodi...
accidentally fragged this piece, looking to trade for another coral or if you would rather not trade I can sell it for $30. About 1 inch. Located in Winslow township.
I find my waveline pump works quite well for the six months i've had it, hasn't stopped working at all, haven't cleaned it yet either, thinking about doing that this week.
Right now instead of budget led's i prefer t5's, a 24 inch 4 bulb would do well over your tank. However, with lps, budget led's would be more than fine to grow them, the reef breeders 24 inch fixture would do well over your tank. Or you can pick up two chinese led boxes for about 200 and they...
acans you can do in lower flow, favia a bit higher flow, cyphastria in higher flow, maybe just find a way to get less flow in that area if you want other stuff there. Feeding the lps will do wonders for them as well when there's a low amount of light available.
I've never heard good things with those lights and keeping coral. They might hit 50 par on the rocks if you're lucky. How long has the other coral been in the tank? What size is the tank?
what kind of lights are you working with? would help a bit in selection. As for a high flow lps, possibly a cyphastria or something that doesn't have large polyps that can be blown in the current that bad.
The only thing around the beach i would be worried about collecting is the sand, other than that it shouldn't make a difference. I was always curious about picking up some inverts and such around the beach, not sure if they would adjust to a hotter reef tank though.
i found the red sea mag kit in general to be off, i think it was like 100-200ppm off from my salifert, and verified my salifert was reading correctly with a couple fresh batches of salt. Also, 1800mg is not a big deal, but i'm pretty sure it's your test kit. I just use IO salt as i do dose my...
