    hammer killing torch.

I have a torch coral that was doing well and growing nicely. I added a hammer coral right next to it a week and a half ago. Now the hammer is thriving, but the torch is suffering. I moved it away. I was under the impresion that these corals would not fight. Could it be that the hammer is...

    What to test for.

I curently have test kits for ammonia, nitrites/trates, phosphates, ph, & calcium. All perimeters are stable. What else is nessasary to test for? If my ph is stable, is it nessasarry to test alkalinity? All my corals are growing and have nice colors. There is no algae in the tank at all. No bad...

    Red Sea 130D AIO

Both aluminum base and ferric oxide are effective for removing phosphate. Phosguard by Seachem is the aluminum base media. It work well in a media bag. Ferric oxide tends to clump up in a media bag, and is better suited for a reactor. The phosguard can becom ineffective in as little as 4 days if...

    Red Sea 130D AIO

I use an aluminum oxide based product in a media bag. It has no harmful effects. If you don't rinse it out thoroughly, before putting it in initally, the dust erritates the corrals for a day. I don't know how more sensitive sps corrals would react to it. The stuff absorbs phosphates quick, but...

Advice for new bio cube owner

If you are using a swing arm, get it accuracy verified. I had one that was way off, and although my salinity indicated 1.024, it was actually 1.029. I bought a second one , but I will get a refractometer soon. For now I ocasionally have my lfs check it for me.

    Transporting coral

Thanks. I guess it will have to depend on what time I go. If it's within 24 hrs I'll carry it out. Any more than that, I'll ship it. I'm not leaving from Orlando. Departing from west palm beach on Friday.
