    meeting thanks

Thanks a lot Ed and Jen for hosting another another great meeting. You're house, yard and basement are awesome and all of the food was great. It was nice to see so many new faces except for the fact that they always seem to be the ones to clean up at the raffles! Congrats to all of the winners...

What's the best way to add more live sand?

Where are you getting the sand from? Is it prepackaged stuff, like CaribSea, or is it sand your getting from a fellow reefers tank?

    What kind of heater

That's funny. I almost didn't post that part because I thought it was just me! And yeah, a little over 6 months sounds about right.

    What kind of heater

We used Won Brothers titanium heaters twice. Both times they failed. On each occasion, I looked at the temp on the digital readout and it was somewhere in the upper 120's. When I stuck my hand in my tank the water was cold. Because the probe thought the tank was hot, the heater never turned on...

    Next Step

Sorry, that's how it came across (to me at least) and I felt like I needed to defend one of my peeps ;D We have several varities of reef safe stars and they are no trouble at all. As for hermits, you have plenty of time before you need to worry about them outgrowing their homes. By that time...

Useless and marginal products I have purchased over the years

Won Bro's titanium heaters - Owned two of them that failed very quickly and nearly trashed our tank. Wet/Dry filter with built in "skimmer" - Total waste of money. I should have just built my own sump from the start, plus the skimmer had more in common with a vacuum cleaner than a protein...

    Catalina Goby

Matt's right. I kept one in a tank that never got over 77*. It lasted about six months and then, the day after I bragged to Matt about my success, it died! It's too bad because they are really beautiful fish.

My only comment is to point out the little slogan at the top left of this page: "Saving the World's Reefs, One Living Room at a Time". It may sound a little hokey but should be the over riding concept that we all try to adhere to. In that context I think it would be extremely irresponsible to...
