What kind of heater

What kind of heater is everyone using? What is the best. I liked the WON titanium heater, but I am hearing too many bad things about them.

We used Won Brothers titanium heaters twice. Both times they failed. On each occasion, I looked at the temp on the digital readout and it was somewhere in the upper 120's. When I stuck my hand in my tank the water was cold. Because the probe thought the tank was hot, the heater never turned on. Fortunately, in both cases, I caught it before it did any real damage. I've subsequently switched to Hydor Theo 400W heaters. I have 4 or 5 of them in different locations in my system. So far they have proven to be very reliable.

I've also tried those Visotherm Stealth Heaters (I think that's what they're called) but those seemed to create an electrical discharge in the tank after awhile. I got shocked pretty good a few times before I identified them as the source.

For a stand alone heater I also like Ebo-Jager. They are now sole as Jager heaters, and the company is owned by Eheim.

If money is no object, I'd use the heater and use a controller with dual set points to operate it, especially if I was using a chiller. In that case, you never want both on at the same time.

So its not just me.... I have 3 of them all start leaking voltage once they got past 6 months. In heater posts all over the place, I hadn't seen anyone make that comment, so I figured I was mishandling them when I cleaned them.

Jager heaters now.... and rock solid. Hydor was an OK heater, but totally unreliable thermostat. Now I don't trust any thermostat, I know set them 2 degree above what I have the AC controller turn them on it and let the controller decide.

That's funny. I almost didn't post that part because I thought it was just me! And yeah, a little over 6 months sounds about right.
