Looking good, what size tank is it? I'm hoping I can get some lps in my new tank when it goes up, with my t5 8 bulb I currently have a favia in the back corner in partial shade bleaching a bit so we will see. Looks like you are getting some nice growth out of the sps you have in there.
Thinking ahead to move in day, i've got most of it planned out, but one thing i'll be doing is removing the corals from the rocks, some of the sps will have left over pieces on the rocks. While i plan on trying to use the old rock as the base rock and the new rock up top, there may be some parts...
The bottom is just going to be two rough cut planks to keep the sump level, stand doesn't have to look neat, just has to hold, which i'm glad, i wasn't up to making anything decent looking.
here's the stand minus the bottom piece of wood i'll be putting in, its about 3.5 inches shorter front to back to account for the studs in the wall so that i can mount it flush with the drywall.
Well, after i sat there staring at my mitre saw for a half hour, wondering why when everything was zero'd out and should be perfectly straight, but i was still getting an angle. Well, apparently when i put one of the plates on, i didn't push it back far enough, it's just to hold the wood up, but...

I can tell you what my 8 bulb is, i'd imaging you can pull off a blue plus and the coral plus, and most people would swap the two aqua blue's i have for coral +bulbs. 4 blue +, 1 purple +, 1 coral +, two aquablue specials. This combo gives my tank a brighter look with a lot less blue that my...
Just my opinion here, the cheap led's will work, with at best mixed results. some people will figure them out, some people like me will lose their mind trying to get the lighting right, when i switched to the t5's like jgraz did, i had the exact same results with how everything colored up and...
I thought i was giving off too much light with my reef breeders at 75% blue 35% white, had the issue you seem to be describing, i put a 8 bulb t5 over it now, much more light, and when i looked in the tank right after i installed it, i could tell immediately that my coral were not getting enough...
Great tank, wish I could have made it to this one, had to travel to the relatives three hours away. Plus side is they are in the middle of nowhere pa so we usually wind up trap shooting, and someone eventually pulls out some hand guns and rifles to shoot.
back from vacation, bumped up the dosing to 105ml a day now, what a difference a light can make. Hoping this week to start making headway on the tank stand and install.
dosing is steady at 85ml a day, quite a jump from the 30ml i was dosing. Managed to move the 135 down into the room it will be set up in from out of the garage. Stand should be built and put into place next week, after that just have to move an electrical box, add a box, and cut the hole in the...
