at the time, i was running a kessil a150 skyblue on this tank and it worked out perfectly. i just hated the gooseneck on it as it made the light kinda off-center

also, i never used a skimmer on that tank but i did make a diy version mame style nano skimmer (DIY) you also could go with an algae scrubber...i have one on my AIO unit and swear by it DROP.2 drop-in upflow algae scrubber with Green Grabber surfaces - 0.2 cubes feeding per day

i have the same tank and i replaced the stock pump with a EHEIM compact 300 and it has worked fine for me. I didn't get the spin stream but i got this Hydor FLO Rotating Water Deflector - Marine Depot and it worked out just fine for me
