in theory it would, if you have a lots of crazy current in the tank already, it may have a smaller wave. as you can see from yesterday demo, the water moved everywhere inside the tank, no more dead spot... ;)

if you need to build with a T5 retro kit, instead of straight across horizontally, you probably can hook up the light bulbs with a little bit angle as DIAGONAL to compensate the different in length if needed.
