So, in post DIY Easy cheap algae scrubber I described how to use simple plastic screens in an established sump/fuge or filter to get fantastic results. Still working unbelievably well and my initial $5 investment in this most excellent scrubber will last for the year.
But, I now have a SPS...
Got mine in a plastic tub the size of a shoebox.
Open lid every 2 days and throw in a cracker while pulling out a few dozen worms.
Flush water through 1x month.
Easy.
Started raising larger colonies over past 6 weeks.
To say I have thousands multiplying by the day is an understatement.
They survive for a number of hours in saltwater, fish go nuts for them.
If anyone in area wants a starter I'm happy to provide.
On pickup I can give a quick lesson on raising...
Hey Paul,
Need some advice on my white worms. I raised small colonies in the past which I would just use and reseed, but recently decided to go big.
I'm at a point where the container, without me wetting it, is vey wet.
As there are 400 billion worms I'm guessing its due to worm waste.
Was...
Light looks too intense.
Xenia usually ‘stand’, mine look like that if i have too much flow.
What things on rocks? If you’re talking the purple rock pic I actually thought those were coral polyps, hate to think thay’re aptasia.
Dude! Can that be any more functional, streamlined, or beautiful?
I'm planning to have a vasectomy in the next few months.
If you're available to consult with the doc I'd appreciate it.
Was into the coral thing.
On advice of a founding member I was told that regardless of what I add, corals need fish poop (paraphrased).
So all my tanks have some kind of damsel as a mainstay (mostly clowns).
I slightly overfeed the fish/inverts with a mix of frozen block, marine snow, and ACC...
Kid standing by with a straw to blow air into the tank and a ping pong paddle for circulation.
Told him if the fish die in a power outage he'll never own a toy again.
Surprised that MP40 hasn't gone yet. I have zero need for it and I'm tempted to buy it.
Laura,
Where in Brick? There's a number of us quite close to each other. Mad Reefer is off 70, PaulM is near Kinny Pools, Rread is somewhere, know theres one or two more... we may have enough to make a break...
Thats hysterical.
Those are the Top Gun guys, number 1 show in UK for years all about cars and stupid things to do with them. Any episode of their back catalogue is worthwhile.
The show thats from is Grand Tour, the Amazon incarnation.
If I need 200w for my tank I use 2 100w.
Set them at 78.
If one blows the other will be enough to keep tank warm enough.
If one goes nuts the other turns off and it wont be enough to burn out the tank.
If both go I'm screwed.
What light you using?
Honestly the best Cheato growth I had when I had a fuge was with a clip on light From HD. Grey light, orange trim, $8 or so. Put a generic spiral compact flourescent in there (25w?) and positioned it a few inches off the water surface. Was literally harvesting every weekend...
Can not say enough about how much Tigs has put into this site and this group of friends.
Plus with all his skills he's not a *&^% about it.
Great guy, would hack off my own leg with a fork to get to a voting booth to vote for him.
