Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Joe, I post this thread every year on 5 or 6 forums. Unfortunately, it only gets 3 or 4 comments. Thank you for your service. I am no longer in the military but I have a Coast Guard Captain's License which actually doesn't mean anything. :subdued:
Remember the Veterans this Tuesday as they fought for us and made the US the best country on Earth. If you have an American Flag (it would be nice if all American's did) Tuesday would be a nice day to display it. Without Veterans, we would not have this hobby Dance
My pictures never come out well because I don't do photoshop so my pictures are what my tank looks like. I know many people "enhance" the colors of their corals because from many years of SCUBA diving I know what colors corals are and very few of them are neon, fluorescent colored. Some are...
Today a pipe connected to my hot water heater started leaking. I installed the thing five years ago but it decided to leak today. I would not have known except the water in my reef tank started to get low even though I have an ATO that is gravity fed. Under my hot water tank I installed a DIY...
I visited my Mother N Law today in a nursing home and I have always noticed this tank there. It is about 300 gallons, has some koi that must be about 5lbs each, a huge alligator catfish about 14" long, giant dino's, African Cichlids all swimming around a plastic coral reef.
I have been collecting pipefish in New York all my life but these seem different. A friend of mine collected these on the south shore of Long Island and he kept them in a bucket for over a month. He gave them to me because my tank is set up for pipefish already and he didn't think they would...
A friend of mine is giving me 4 local pipefish that he collected in the summer and has them in a bucket. He says they eat flake food which is something I have never seen before. I don't have a lot of luck with local pipefish but I will throw them in my tank and hope they get used to eating new...
I just realized that I can't properly maintain my tank now that I have so many pipefish. Normally once a year I stir up the substrait where I can reach and suck out everything with a diatom filter but I can't do that with the pipefish, especially the blue stripe pipefish as they never live...
When I get time I need to build a much larger brine shrimp hatchery, the one I have can't take the volume as it was built a long time ago for one mandarin. I still have the hatchery/auto feeder for vacations which continousely hatches how many I want but it will only work well for a week or so...
After it is installed I will share it. I already built one under my reef tank and under my boiler and hot water heater that will just shut off the water to that. But now I am going for the entire house as we sometimes go away in the winter and if the heat goes off, the pipes will freeze.
Everything is fine and dry now. I am in the process of building a leak detector that will shut off my water main if there is a leak anywhere in the house. I already built one for under my boiler and hot water heater.
