It seems that there are so many people in this hobby that are stressed every time they see something either growing or just appearing in their tanks.
I figured I would post things that over the years just went away with no help from me.
Hair algae.
I have no idea when I took this picture but it...
TanksNStuff I was a general Foreman for an electrical contractor in Manhattan and we only did large jobs like the fire alarm for the Empire State Building and all the Machine rooms in the Chrysler building. I ran a crew of 120 men.
I had this obstinate engineer once that insisted that I do...
I once bought a new Jeep Cherokee and the first day my wife got stuck so they towed it back and told me a bunch of things they fixed. The car had 7 miles on it. The third day she got stuck again and they towed it back and told me another bunch of things they fixed, the car had 15 miles on it...
I can't believe it, this powerhead that runs my reverse UG filter stopped. I don't know if it stopped for a day, week or month, but it stopped.
I don't know why, It is only about 20 years old, :p I am sure I removed it for cleaning or something maybe 10 years ago but it was all the way...
I know I posted this before but I just love this thing.
I have been at this for a long time but I get all excited when I see the animals enjoying themselves, especially if it is with something that I created.
Just about all of my fish eat from this live baby brine feeder even though they have...
That is a 1/4" rock anemone, very common and they are salt water grass shrimp. I can fill a five gallon bucket with no water, just shrimp in about five minutes.
I go to this tidepool with my boat but you don't need a boat for most of this stuff.
This is in the Long Island Sound
At one time or another almost every creature on the eastern seaboard has been in mytank. Now there are crabs, shrimp and snails but I had lobsters, flounders, eels, horseshoe crabs and I collect amphipods every
week in the summer.

The thing keeps evolving by collapsing and being re built. I am sure all tanks go through this
This is a fairly new gobi, I don't know what type it is and I am to lazy to look it up.
You can also see a red scooter bleeny above his tail.
I love this stuff
I was looking at the tank today (with the top opened) and I saw a spark, then another one, then another, then the LED strip over my algae trough sputtered and started to melt and smoke. The thing melted through the acrylic tube I had it attached to.
Cheap LED strip from China.
Luckily it was 6"...
After moving this all over the tank, getting bit to death and breaking a few pieces off this and other corals, I realize there is no room for this acropora. I temporarilly put it on this rock but it is just about out of the water and not sitting well. When I get time I need to do a major rock...
I had to re design slightly my algae trough. The LEDs I had over it just were not bright enough so I got a strip of LEDs that are about twice as bright. When I had MH lights the trough used to get the spill light but the LEDs are more directional so I had to add supplimental light to the...
I am happy to say that in the 5 or 6 weeks since I installed this baby brine shrimp feeding station my skinny little female mandarin fattened up nicely and is now bordering on plump.
The first picture is when I got her, you can see her sides pinched in, especially under her dorsal fin and she...
On that quick model only the end without the tube is glued on. The tube end is on with a rubber band so I can easily open it. That end also has 3 small pieces of acrylic glued in the end cap so it stays in the center and doesn't slip off letting the worms out.
I kind of like bristleworms but now I just have too many of them. Whenever I move a rock I notice it is loaded with the little slimers. I recently had a small clam up on the rocks and it fell onto the gravel. The worms sucked it out in no time so now it is war. Over the years I have made...
That skinny little female mandarin at the beginning of this thread is now all filled out and bordering on a little chubby. I am hopeful that soon she will grow enough to mate with the large male who so far ignores her. I don't know why, she is cute.
These two fireclowns can't make up their minds. For a couple of years they were spawning, then for the next few years they fought, now they are spawning again. This has been going on for at least ten years.
The larger one is about 16 or 17 years old, I am not sure how old the smaller one is...
