Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Currently with a snowflake eel and a unicorn tang which they do not bother. The larger fish, a fat 5" is too busy chasing the smaller, 3" fish. As you probably know better to put with bigger, aggressive fish.
These pictures of one of the classroom tanks. It only has coral and inverts. There are vermetid snails in the live rock. Are these vermetid growing on the overflow and on the glass? I don’t feed this tank at all which makes me wonder why the snails would be multiplying.
I will not be using this tank again next school year. It was passed on to me by a fellow Reefer and I would like to pass it on again. Please let me know if you can use it. Tank and stand.
I've been battling GHA awhile by physical removal and GFO. The amount of GHA growing back has reduced significantly and most of what is left is a light green to brownish color. I feel like I am close to winning this fight. Phosphates and nitrates are near zero. I am afraid to stress out my...
So far the students seem to really enjoy learning science using reef aquariums. The highlights included designing hydrometers using straws and building algae scrubbers with food containers. They also enjoyed fragging some bird’s nest. The plan is to grow out the coral and sell it at a mini swap...
Does anyone know the manufacturer and size of this tank? I am guessing 50-60 gallons. I was given this tank but i really don’t need another display tank in my program. I would rather sell to raise some cash for needed equipment. If you can suggest an asking price that would also be helpful.
I have challenged my students to design a "nitrate reduction" system. Otherwise known to us as an algae scrubber. They are struggling a bit. I don't show them DIY videos because I don't want them to just copy from the video. So I thought I would show them failed or inadequate designs that they...
Awhile back I posted an interest in aiptasia donations. Probably many of you thought I was nuts. I wanted to share a recent tank setup in our classroom. The goal is to raise anemones to eventually share with students to keep at home in a little mini reef jar. I am so excited to get the tanks...
I was hoping you guys could help me get the word out by sharing this flyer on your social media. In return, I would like to offer a similar class to the children of NJReefers at no charge. I will run the NJReefer class mid June through July. More details to follow. Please shoot me a message so...
My 220 display is quickly deteriorating. Please offer suggestions on how to resolve. If it’s algae I know I have to reduce the light and the nutrients but if it’s something else I could use some advice. I’ve cleaned a number of times and it breaks up and ends up all over the tank. Also once...
