I’ve bought two fish from them. They are pricy and I agree that their quarantine is real deal. Bummer is, I lost both fish but it was my fault. I agree that their corals are way expensive. Ran into Rob the other day there and he asked why I hadn’t been in. Didn’t have the heart to tell him his...
Get urchins if you don’t have any. I have had up to 4 in my 130 gallon tank. Lost one so down to 3. You will have less coraline but you won’t have gha. If it’s bryopsis, get some fluconazole/reef flux. It’s the only thing that works and it works great.
Water changes are easy for me. I make my own rodi. I have my whole water system close. Just use a python to a sink. And I just pump back in my fresh salt water. Can do a change in 15-20 minutes.
I mix a 500 ml capsule with 500 ml rodi. Now have 1mg per 1ml. I then dose 7ml per liter of total tank volume. So for my 420L tank I dose 60ml. I get results with one does but I wait three days and dose again.
My tank (WB 130) is now 1 year and 8 months old. I test alk, NO3 and PO4 weekly. I don’t see much value in other parameters. I dose Red Sea AB+ daily as well as B Ionic 2 part. Over the last 3 weeks those 3 parameters have been very stable and perfectly in range. Water is crystal clear and fish...
I got rid of my filter socks. Water is still crystal clear. Unnecessary. When I was using them I scrubbed them with a small kitchen scrub brush against the sink bottom.
I did find a dead cardinal. Not sure it was related but I’m sure a salinity was up. I didn’t check it. All corals looked okay. I usually keep it at 1.025 for wiggle room.
I too jinxed myself thinking about how stable things have been. Checked my live feed on my tank at 10am yesterday. I’m down at the jersey shore. Massive bubbles out of returns. Knew auto top off wasnt working. 1.5 hours home. Power cord to ato slipped out of power strip.
I too can spend an hour looking my tank, usually asking my self all sorts of questions. How's the lighting? How's the flow? It's pushing up those meat corals, but everything looks great. Is that purple and green candy cane too big now of that spot? Do I move it, and where? Or, do I need to...
