Thanks. One thing different this time around is the usage of a Vossen trap. It's by Chad Vossen. Interesting contraption to help collect the fry overnight from the main display. I'll post a pic later.
Well I am happy to report a living, breathing 2 month old clownfish raised in NJ (ha ha). It was really touch and go at first and I was not able to save it's half dozen siblings. A large number of eggs did not hatch. So i really wasn't hopeful at my odds...but surprise surprise...
Here's a...
ok sorry i should have asked this earlier -but the desk can hold the weight? I mean most desks are meant to hold a monitor, pc or what not. But 20 gallons of saltwater = 170 pounds.
I had a biocube for many years, except mine lacked the top. I had the heater in the first compartment, the media box like you have in the middle chamber, and right snug next to it was a tunze 9002 skimmer special configured to have the magnet on the side instead of the back. Unfortunately...
I'd add more flow. There really shouldn't be anything growing there right next to the cheato. The cheato should be stripping the nutrients from the tank preventing exactly the kind of nuisance stuff growing there. Adding flow will prevent that crud from accumulating and should have zero...
I like Dangerdave's idea, but most chopsticks are made from bamboo and they float in the water. Wrap enough of them on that python and it will float lol.
I bet he is isn't the original owner of the tank. Also from that pic - it looks like it only has a single overflow as the eggcrate appears to touch front to back. I dunno ...might be a good reptile tank?
any luck with the pair? From other sources I've learned that rotifers are only needed two days, then afterwards you can try TDO.
I have been getting by with some really old otohime I still had from years gone by. I probably need to up my game and get something else.
I dunno to me any unidentified worm is going to get nixed. We already track so many variables in our tanks. I'm okay with bristle worms, spaghetti and peanut worms, but all others get serious scrutiny for removal. Obviously tube worms and christmas tree worms are ok since we pay for these things.
cool thread and great info/responses.
I think the laws exist on the books to prevent some unforeseen natural disaster. There are many examples of these sorts of problems.
Fish invasions:
Asian Carp in the Mississippi river and much of the US watershed.
Lionfish in the Atlantic.
Nile perch in...
A 25g? I assume that's just a glass box with no predrilled overflow? or did you add a glass holes overflow? What are you running for a skimmer or equipment?
The reason I ask is that the amount of waste being exported by your equipment has a direct correlation to what kind of capacity you can...
These are my guesses.
You say the light is the "same" - but unless you are measuring it with a PAR meter - it is difficult to state with certainty that the light is "exactly the same". Also a 40B and a 10G are different heights. Even if you had the exact same light fixture - the xenia will...
@MadReefer thanks for the plug. @nightmarepl Sorry for the late reply. Not sure how big the "spot" is where your clowns are resting. Clownfish cannot lay eggs on the bta (e. quadricolor) - so they need a spot either vertically or horizonally near by. The clay pot is an idea as it provides a...
