looks good MERV. you make building everything look easy. I HATE YOU. btw, what are your plans for livestock/lighting? our "gallons" are almost identical having hard time thinking what i want to keep.
thanks for the info paul. i don't understand why they would drill to huge. I wouldn't think for the size tank would make sense for using a higher pressure bulkhead. i've never seen any problems or remarks of problems using schedule 40.
thanks. i actually cheated and bought a bent 90and attached...
i don't want to increase the size. i read from a previous thread may cause problems. i believe the bottom from prior posts of customers from glasscages say it's not tempered though. i'll just make a call.
when it says requires a hole of 2 3/8. i would think that's the max diameter it would...
hey guys,
I was wondering Bulkhead size for 2.75 diameter hole
got a custom tank and they drilled a 2.75 hole. which makes no sense to me since it's a 50gal tank.
to even help you a little further:
55bucks

probably go to 50 bucks. great buy. item is practically new.
if your going the cheapest route. do yourself a favor and buy a used GOOD fixture. if it isn't going over a display then you don't need to be all fancy. i think you'd waste way too much money when someone elses loss could be your gain.
example
i got a brand new Tek 6bulb with upgraded bulbs...
i personally prefer filter socks and having the drain output atleast 4" below the water line. as mentioned previously, i would keep the drain full throttle and only back peddle the return but i'd T off return to the sump so it doesn't effect your return pump.
i would go with the electrical conduit. i know the bar your referring to. 10.59each. i personally would need about 3 pieces. then drill and depending on either welding or bracing. would end up costing. i would suggest conduit if you have the bender or the cutter a lot cheaper. 3bucks for a 10...
i use the same method as monroe. i think using an external would be cool. but i use the extra space for all the other equipment and more fiddle room. plus i'm cheap. internal is cheaper and more readily available for replacement.
if it is overflowing. drain is faster than return. sounds like you were fiddling with flows (return/drain) and it isn't necessarily equalized. I'd open up the return a bit then try again. it's a waiting game with everything. also, as merv requested a picture would help see your setup and...

PICS. I guess sunday you and I shall be heading for our PICKUPS. have fun in the snow. please say it's going in the passenger seat of the s2000. ha! :o
personally, look into the calfo style. someone cut his tank and added an external overflow box and it is just an overall sick DIY. if i had the tools i'd be all over some DIY work. i'll look for it and maybe you might change your mind.
good luck with sale though.
