both should work as long as you cap the top of the 2nd. I'd reccommend the first just for more direct flow versus the 90deg turn it's gotta make in the 2nd
If youve got the room I think the first one will run better. Where's the pump at in the 2nd one? bottom or top?
Ill try to give a mock up of what mine does.. Excuse the non hooked up reactors, I had a leak in the plumbing so I'm sealing it with aquarium sealant :)
T off the pump Right side...
this build is turning into awesomeness. I would have gone the same route & DIYed my lights, but I'm challenged in all things electrical :( love the remote control box idea!
Well every 90 elbow is considered 1' so if you've got 7-8 90 elbows (which you probably do) then yea that head loss is probably right.
I'm headed home tomorrow, ill text you some pics.....

Check with Darren(dnov99) as he runs led on his dt but t5 on his fray(pretty sure it hasn't changed)
I run 100%led but haven't jumped into major spa yet do I'm a bad judge.
Over on MR they did an led vs mh vs t5 in 3 different tanks. At the end I think it was close but go search for it. I know...
John I'm running almost your exact setup but the brs reactor. Right now I'm just letting it flow back into a filter sock in my skimmer chamber. I'm in Pittsburgh right now but ill get you pics when I get home. Remember that the reactors prolly have 1/2" connections so make sure you get a 3/4" -...
depending on how much rock you have(104lbs in mine), I'm running the same setup & have right at 92 gallons total water volume including my 20L sump. 10ml is probably right at the top of your "strong enough to work" threshold.
I agree with the doing dumb stuff as a kid. we used pool chemicals & a 2 liter bottle in the middle of an empty parknig lot to have some fun as a child. I don't know if today they're different or not, but I know I would have ended up in gitmo as a terrorist for making some of the stupid crap we...
I might grab one of these for salt mixing. at ~17 gallons it's perfect for bi weekly 20% changes :) so far this is also the best option for the ATO because lets face it, I don't feel like making water every few days haha.
I picked up the dual float switch kit that pairs up with the RKL I got from jim that I had you grab for me.
I have a spare MJ900 I just think it'd be way too strong lol.
As far as space goes there's 2 options. I've got a nice ~22in sq space next to my tank that I was debating on building a...
I've got my ATO on order and I'm debating on what pump i could hook up to it. it's a 90 with ~90-95G of total water volume after rocks, sand, adding the sump.
I saw somebody link a pet containers site but I can't seem to find it.
looking for suggestions, but also just looking to see what...
don';t be surprised if you get the sand in multiple easy ship USPS boxes on different days. my 80 lbs of sand shipped 2 days apart from each other & arrived as such.
damn do you ever make it further north? possibly for work or anything? not looking for delivery :). I'm in central jersey & you're ~1:45 each way from me haha.
