The fish went back into their tanks tonight. We did a bit of reshuffling.
The black & white false percs we moved into the 20g with the pair of bengaii cardinals and the neon cleaner goby.
The flame angel, blue spotted jawfish, gold assessor, pair of picaso clowns, lady mandarin, and bulls...
This is MNAT, I'm responding with my wife (NikkiT)'s name. If you use the raw piece of shrimp you will get a definite cycle, but it will take longer. If you use the instant cycle stuff, it will be much quicker (supposedly 24 hours) but I can't really attest to how successful it is since this is...
I think zoas and mushrooms are an excellent choice. I started with zoas and mushrooms in my 20g in december of 2008. . . and by january 2009, i had to give away most of them because they had overgrown my 20g. However, thats a good problem to have. You might also want to consider trumpets, Mike...
I've used that before. It works fine, kinda cool to see things like hermit crab tracks in it. But if you have anything that likes to play in the sand, you're in trouble. It will turn your tank water cloudy, and put a fine dusting of white powder, on EVERYTHING in your tank.
I switched it out for...
working from home on an article on summary judgment. . . and spending a whole heck of a lot of time on NJRC while I wait for my cases to download from lexis.
I think that Switch and Phyl bring up good points . . . and so i'm adding rule No. 6

(b) commit to furthering the...
I have several GSP frags/small colonies ranging from 1" to 3", here is info from the internet:
Green Star polyps are small bright green polyps connected together by a rubbery purple colored mat. Open during the day, retracted at night or when disturbed. Green Star polyps are extremely hardy...
Phil, thank you so much for sharing this information with all of us. Keep in mind that even if your losses may feel high, every fish you raise successfully is one less being taken out of the ocean. You are not only learning from your losses, but by sharing what you have learned, you are helping...
After dropping 1/2 cup of seashells into the tank so that the jawfish would leave our frags alone. . . we had to move the sunset monti. Then move it again. Then move it again. He successfully reincorporated it into his borrow not once, not twice, but three times, which is impressive given that...
We have a koralia nano in a 12g, good amount of flow for a small tank. I used a Koralia 1 in the 20g before replacing it with an MP 10.
If you are going to be adding on a HOB or refugium with carbon and/or phosban in it, I have successfully kept 10g tanks that way for years with light stocking...
I bought that oceanic skimmer last year. It worked really poorly for me.
I also tried the Nano Fission Skimmer, that did not work for me either.
I gave up and finally purchased an AquaC Remora skimmer.
Regarding HOB filters, I had ok luck with a Marineland power filter for years before...
