Ive thought about it, My vortech is -To me- Very noisy. Its been like that for a while now too, And recently i tried to go short pulse and found it stutters when ramping up. Looks simple enough to do so why not if its out of warranty anyway

Honestly you really shouldnt have to start from that far up at all. Unless everything in the tank is low light and you are seeing immediate bleaching and ill effects, something like 20" and eventually down to like 12 would be fine
