Sorry for the hijack - but talking about HK led me to some other stuff:
I asked the nj dept of wildlife about permits/exporting stuff back to the US from HK and was told to talk to the feds.
The TSA supposedly will let a "live" fish enter and not stop it per the liquid rules.
But the US fish...
really? and you didn't post any pics of tung choi street????
I found this online....
Hmm that's too small for my preference. let me see if photobucket is better.
I want to say that I have seen them sold live in wetmarkets in Hong Kong, but this was like 2 decades ago.
Anyways that stated parrotfish are *generally* herbivores. Ciguatera is a disease that is most pronounced (supposedly) when eating top of the line food predators on the reef.
I hate it when the media messes around with the content and makes up their own headlines.
the correct headline of the original journal piece that was published is:
Historical Reconstruction Reveals Recovery in Hawaiian Coral Reefs
The abstract is also very interesting:

i just got my fourth quarter weekend on-call schedule and I am working that weekend. if i can find someone to cover for me I will swap dates/and attend. Right now though I am unfortunately a negative on attending.
I guess I feel like the design is very different from what i use in the PM kalk reactor.
Example -
you have a valve to mix in O2. PM Kalk does not.
you have a valve to clean the thing out. Pm Kalk does not. I've never taken the thing apart once. All that it ever gets is kalk and fresh...
All too true. So how do we make good use of the study? Maybe it should be printed out and available as a flier at meetings? Or part of a sticky on the planning forum? You and i both know the lure of the hobby to many is to stack 8 yellow tangs in a 120 gallon circular tank. The episode...
Actually there's got to be at least ONE person on this board using tap with a successful tank. I used TAP years ago..RODI just seemed complex to me back then. It worked well for a softie tank. But there were times when I had unexpected die-off and I was thinking later that maybe the water...
yeah - i've had that happen. Removing the durso worked for me once in flushing my firefish into the sump.
What other fish are in the tank and what size? jumping into the overflow could be a sign of somethign frightening the fish causing them to go. The good news is that they are in the...
what am i looking at...lol the picture confuses me more!
the barbed hose inlet on the bottom - is that were you hook the inflow pump? no right - because you have a cone thing above it - which makes me think that is the outflow. But you said "exits thru the fitler via the port on the lid" - i...
it's very hard to tell what is good and what is a bad snail besides presuming the people supplying them to us know what they are talking about.
When I purchased aquacultured/harvested live rock i had to almost get a dictionary understanding what critters could be good vs bad. Back then I was...
I think the caveats here should be explored further.
Is it a no brainer that larger tanks are more suitable for fish than smaller tanks? I would say for the most part yes - but would a goby/pistol shrimp really care between a 10g and a 100g?
I know my pearly jawfish has occupied the same spot...
