So my clownfish have been hatching fry in the display. In my brilliant mind I thought I should add a second thermometer (main one is downstairs in sump) to monitor the temp. Prior to the fry hatching I shut downt he pumps and the water sometimes gets cool - so I add a heater directly to the...
sending this thread back up (i know it's old - but the info in here is still relevant). Folks if you have ich - do read this.
Maybe we need a sticky on ich. I'll have to dig up some other good threads and maybe combine posts.
haven't heard anything back - hope everything is ok. Pm me if you need someone to actually come by and help out. I'm not all that great but I"m sure I could drag a few others on the board to join in.
If the black were significantly larger than the others - maybe. But 95% of the time it is going to be a mess like reefernets and monroereef said.
YOu could conceivably give away one of the orange ones (assuming it's an oscellaris) and add the black one (since it's just a morph of an...
Initial fry require lives foods such as rotifiers - to stimulate the eating/lunging/attacking of food. Then later as they get bigger I used to feed newly hatched artermia/baby brine. However hatching bbs is a pain in my opinion.
The otohime is sized from A to C and then EP (which is almost...
Work's been crazy. That's the only reason why i'm still on this late.
Anyways - i've been lax on the clowns. I let two hatches go bye bye to the display. The female shows no signs of slowing down the egg laying. Meanwhile my display tank looks awful - i actually have some purple cyano creeping...
is this the typhoon? it shoudl have a DI bypass on there. The reason why you want to measure the pre-DI is to figure out if you have to replace the DI.
I'm going to speak "generally" but the prefilters typically go for about a year and need replacing - get the "Tpack" from AWI. but if you've...

there's a pic of these guys building a dam to help prevent the oil from coming into the wetlands/marsh.
i'm sorry but a dam? i don't see how that can help as much as a flotilla of pontoons or something.
i also saw an...
i use a dehumidifier - but i only have a 40 gallon sump in my basement. Now that I think abou tit I'll have to get the kill-a-watt on that thing to see the damage it's doing. Good point!
if boomer is around he could chime in - but the only problem with too much carbon is how to properly filter them. That is when there is too much it tends to clump together therefore making a bio-logical filter/nitrate trapping/detritus mess. But you'd have to be pretty lax (e.g. greater than 2...
30 feet....yikes.
Short term fix is to replace the pump with something with less GPH - so much so that either overflow could handle the GPH and if one is clogged - it will still run. What's the pump rated for?
With the 150 - power-out and overflowed sounds like the sump may be too small...?
amphipods are pretty common in any liverock. If I set up a filter sock I usually get a several in there in no time.
your best bet is to get some chaeto from another reefer and you will likely get pods in there.
LR rubble is ideal environment for amphipods to spawn.
Anyways - www.ipsf.com...
