clownfish - orange pair with a black?

I have a pair of percula clowns I have had for about a year....can I get a single black clown to add as well or will they gang up and fight? Thanks in advance

If they have paired off and have their own area i wouldnt try it.

Depending on tank size and anemones and if they have set up territorys.

Let us know. so we can help ya out.

I was in the same boat about 2 months ago. I have had the orange perculas for 8 months. Then I added a black one to the tank.
There was enormous amount of chasing. The poor guy was also bit a few times. I took him out and had him in the DT. I wanted to return the black clown.
However, my family fell in love with the black nemo. So after two day I introduced him again in the tank. He somehow found a spot to hide and is always in there.

I eventually took out the orange percs and now he is happy.

I tried to give the orange percs a second chance. I had them in my sump for 2 weeks and then I reintroduced then to the DT. They were chasing the black clown in not time.

It was tough to see the fish you like being chased all around the tank. I took the orange ones out. Now I am happy.

Sorry for the long story, but wanted to warn you. In my opinion it is NOT worth it unless you can take the orange ones out.

Yea i only have a 24 nano cube so ill hold off on the black clown, just wanted to see if it was worth trying....and from your comments and research it looks like not a good idea:) Thanks

If the black were significantly larger than the others - maybe. But 95% of the time it is going to be a mess like reefernets and monroereef said.

YOu could conceivably give away one of the orange ones (assuming it's an oscellaris) and add the black one (since it's just a morph of an oscellaris). The kids would be interesting...
