Thing is when salt gets into those pores, the piece will start degrading. Fresh water isn't as big a problem if it's not being used for food or anything health related.
Anyone got any experince with these artificial counter tops? There is little info on people using it with aquariums. I'm redoing the skin in my cabinet among other things and was thinking some stone looking material would look nice as a sill. Granite/quartz is porous, but if I seal it, I dunno...
Not hard to keep, they are filter feeders so depending on how you feed your other lives stock, you might not to do anything to keep them outside stable water, and low nitrates. Plus nothing that eats them.
If your tank has a slow drain on the elements, a 10% weekly is more than enough. Unless you are trying to fix some parameter. If your stocked up, I'm not sure if big water changes are worth it over dosing though.
