125 Reef Tank new to NJRC =D

Hey all just found this site and wanted to post my system on here =D Its a new tank and its just coming to but im gonna post some of the build and what its running now so here we go ;D

Ok so i started off getting a 125 with just a sump and a skimmer from someone in NJ who needed to get rid it. Got it home cleaned it up then started working on the plumbing wireing... etc. I decided to go with 3 250 watt MH's for my lighting with two 6' VHO atinics. For my main return pump i got a iwaki 70 rlt... i know its pressure rated but hey its a NICE pump and it runs great.

just a start tell me what u think

Thanks all. and ya the tang was really white when i got him, someone just wasnt taking care of him and barely feeding him and he has no light at all i think the person who had him has like a 30" floresent light on him. He looks alot better now those pictures are a little bit older, he really colored up nicely and is eating and healthy now

Welcome ...good timing we have our frag swap in a month and would suggest becoming a member.
Looks good hope to see you there.

Ya that frag swap looks really really awsome too im definitally going to try and come to that. Not so far from my house either =D Anything specific i need to do to become a memeber?

Welcome.
I would definitely suggest joining the club . Between members sharing info/help,frag swaps, meetings , raffles ,group buys and store discounts it is really worth it . There is a lot of knowledge in the club and its shared by just asking, that helps a newbie like me more than anything else. Looking forward to seeing your new tank mature, keep sharing the photo's.

The sebea is a bit bleached, but im giving him krill with marine c on it and hes doing much much better now im gonna get you guys some updated pics as soon as i get my new camera up and running ;D The tang is ultra yellow now and the sebea doesnt look terribally bleached is actually has a nice purpleish glow to it. Really see a huge difference with the lighitng upgrade on this tank. My carpet nem didnt look to happy in the previous tank either, hes shown a large color improvment also. Im gonna actaully move my plumbing soon the the basement with a custom 90 gallon sump im in process of making. Mabye a DIY skimmer also ive got plans for both but we shall see how they turn out x.x Ill try and get pics posted soon for you guys.

Try some Selcon for the sebae, also. Soaking his food in that will go a long way to help, if you ask me!

Well thats all for now guys please let me know what you think!!!

Wow, that baby is filling up fast.

I've got to be honest, you must have nerves of steel to add that sea apple. And now I finally understand your signature, lol. :) Gorgeous carpet though. LOVE the magnificent nem, too.

Man, I would get rid of that Sea apple. Sea apples and Koralias DO NOT MIX. Once that thing moves up there and gets splattered by the Koralia (which will happen eventually), everything in your tank will die and you'll pretty much have to get rid of all the rock/sand. Those things are not only ridiculously hard to care for under normal circumstances but absolutely, positively cannot and should not be kept with open powerheads such as Koralias.

I would move that thing out and trade it/sell it/give it away as soon as possible so you don't lose everything in your tank.

Are you feeding heavily on phytoplankton/rotifers, also? They need that to survive and are notoriously hard to even keep alive for long periods of time.

I feed the sea apple daily and Ive had him for over a year and he seems to be very happy and healthy. I give him frozen cube of rotifers and sorta spot feed to him. He also never wonders around just stays in his spot.
