125 setup planning to drill

Does anyone have experience setting up a 125 peninsula-style? Can I drill the shorter side so plumbing comes out by the wall, or is that ill-advised? Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations, experiences or warnings to share, etc?

Drilling and overflow setup are my last hurdle to getting this going I know the bottom is tempered and I’ll assess the sides before drilling. I really like the peninsula style; two 6-foot sides visible instead of one is a no-brainer to me. And while my fishroom is wisely limited to the unfinished but well utilized basement, where my RODI, French drain, and sump pumps are, I have flexibility to do it that way.

I also had @ Hockeynut drill my tank for me,, reach out to him I believe he’s closer to you than me

Drilling is easy, you just have to get over it and do it. Take a spare tank if you have one (heck go buy a 10 gallon if you need to), and practice a little.

I have a drill bit and template for drilling holes in tank, it’s yours if you want it brother

Watch the height of the overflow box.
Make sure it's in the perfect position (and consider where the visible water line will be from outside the tank).
Only one shot to drill the correct height or you're screwed.
Ask me how I know...

The bottom of the tank has a sticker that says tempered glass, do not drill.

I think I have to assume the tank is not drillable, though many people tell me the bottom is often tempered and sides are not. Thoughts? I tried the polarized lens assessment but I’m not seeing what I’m told I’d see, even looking through the bottom.

Nothing in life is for sure sometimes you got a roll the dice and put yourself out there and see what happens I believe Dan can get this job done and if something happens you just get another one

Do you know the brand. Manufacturer. They can tell you if side is tempered

I don’t see a manufacturer, I just see a tag with initials of who assembled it. It’s time to get this baby up and running-long past time. I’m not worried about disaster, we have the power managed and it’s in my basement next to a french drain. I’ll check again but if it’s siphon overflow, that’ll be fine. I’d prefer to drill, trust me, but it’s time to expand the reef. coral are doing great and they need more room to grow! Plating monti has dulled out a few months ago and is now back and bright again.
