150+ gallon tank build (fish room and all)

So a friend of mine was having issues with his tank so he decided it was time to upgrade
Here are some photos of the tank build

Tank is a Marineland 150 long with two overflows

He wanted the stand in white so we primed it and painted it using a roller and brush it took about 5 coats

We shimmed it so it was level
(Sorry don’t have photos of that)

Then we plumbed it using 1 inch pvc
Both returns are on the same line the drains are on separate lines we have all the lines going down to the basement where fish room will be he did not want any unions personally i would have added unions on the bottom of each pipe and where the pipes meet the wall (he did change his mind and added 3 to where the pipes meet the wall)

I will try to update this thread as often as i can feel free to ask questions as thats what we are here for

I do like it it’s very easy to use drying depending on the application

If you use it in water for example to glue a frag down the water works as an accelerator it can be left alone in about 30 seconds
If its with dry rock i use the bsi accelerator and it works great getting the top layer of glue to solidify as long as you are not moving around for a minute or two it would hold even shelf rock

A note the newer batch of glue dries in the cap if water Comes in contact with it
They said they are going to fix it with the next batch in two months

thanks for the information iam going to try some.

If you are using it in water this batch needs to be “rubbed” into the rock i put a glob on the bottom of a frag holding the frag on its sides i twist it back and forth until i feel some resistance

Didn’t have many options with the rock he wanted lots of swimming space with arches
its a fish only with possibly a reef plumbed in

I would have change to a pressure pump, the L1 dosent have the head pressure in time it will burn up, would have used a blueline 70.

Appreciate the tip but the L1 is 3100gph blueline 70 is 1750gph not really sure why you think the L1 will burn at half capacity

i have had a client use the m1 for year + with a two floor tank and it worked well
i wouldn’t recommend it and told him to change it but it did work well for a year + he sold it and got the L1

I don’t know much about the pumps you guys are mentioning, but after a disappointing result from using a DC pump, I read a lot of people on the forums upset about the flow rates they get for them. Just trashed a brand new maxspect pump that couldn’t top 20% of the advertised flow rate. I went back to Rio pumps, not fancy but boy are they priced great and reliable. Best part, you get the flow rate you need.

Li is not a pressure pump, a pressure pump will pump up to 30 or so feet by the way I had a L1 and it runs hot and it will burn up but I am only telling you I put up alot of tanks
