Ship: YES SHE IS, ISN'T SHE? You have no idea, I'm SO happy to have her - and she was a rescue (long story). She's a Diamondback Terrapin, aquatic turtle. She's in a 75g tank, with a cool rock area that she climbs up, where's there a basking 'island' ... very cool. Way different than an aquarium. Here's a link to the original thread I posted when I first got her ... http://www.njreefers.org/showthread.php?75514-First-Turtle-long-term-foster-care-...
off-topic - They have a display of terrapins over at the Atlantic City aquarium if my memory serves me right. They are neat looking - btw sandee are you using some salt in the water? i thought they preferred brackish. I believe they are not endangered but on the watch list due to massive habitat (wetlands/marshland) destruction - and the fact that on their way towards those areas they get run over by a lot of cars.
To me, the vid looks like a territorial dispute too. You can see they both watch each other carefully as they circle, and one seems to be swimming upward (to get a higher vantage point).
Sandee, that is a beautiful Terrapin. Phil, not sure if they have them at the Atlantic City Aquarium, but I know for a fact that Sharon had 2 or 3 of them in her NJAAS classroom at the Camden Aquarium. I was checking them out when we set up the tank the club donated to them. If you have any questions about them, I'm sure Sharon would be happy to help you out Sandee. Her username on here is NJAASReef if you want to send her a PM.
