250mh....how high to mount light

I'm new to mh so I have no clue how high to hang the light over my tank. Its a 250mh over a 22in deep cube tank. I'm at 16in seems to high. Should I drop it to about 12in range or lower?

Typically 10-12" above the waterline.

what kind of reflector are you using?

I ocationally move mine. But, I think they're usually around the 10 - 12 inch range as noted above.

Its a Giesemann 250 mh with 2 t5 combo light (sorry it took so long to reply)

I have the ceb sun from Hamilton tec. With 4 t5 and a 250 mh about 8" off the surface on a 45 gallon cube
