300 Gallon upgrade

Looks good, I'm sure your already planning it but doors on the end of the stand make it easier when doing work inside the stand. I like that wainscoting idea, My 265 tank in the wall has dripped water a few times on the sheet rock under it and it only take a small amount of water and its trashed. I'm thinking of doing wainscoting on the wall with the tank some day.

Finally was able to transfer everything to the 300 stock tank in the basement. Man what a job.

The one thing I was dreading about the transfer is removing the war coral that had grown on the bottom glass of the tank.

In this pic, you can see it growing up the front glass.

Here is what it looks like after removing it.

Rocks and corals in the tub. As you can see, corals don't look good at all.

Here you can see the 1.5 pvc pipe that I used to recirculate the water from the sump to the tub.

My dehumidifier has been on all day and it still can't keep the humidity down. This is going to be a problem.

You fish roon looks great!

I miss my 150g tub it was a great dark - rock fuge.

DO you have any vent fan in there? It will help a ton with the humidity.

Thanks

Unfortunately I do not have a vent fan. I also don't have an opening to vent it too. I don't want to make a whole in the wall. I was going to keep everything in the basement till I finished with the stand and canopy, but I don't think I can leave it down there that long with all the humidity. When the guys come this weekend to pick up the 215, I will take advantage and asked them for help in moving the 300 in the house. The wife is going to be pissed when she see's an unfinished stand. lol

I want to Thank Breakin Newz, Dimitrge, D5332, Bobby and his friend or family member (sorry Bobby, I forget his name) for helping me bring the 300 in the house. That thing is heavy.

Here is a little bit of an update.

I decided to build the panels on the stand. The front panel is 8 feet long. I thought it was going to be a hassle to take it off, but its pretty easy. I don't see myself removing the front panel once all the plumbing is connected. The one panel I will be removing the most is the right side panel. That is where I will have my controllers.

I had to paint the top and bottom trimming cause I had to place the stand to put the tank on it. At the time the panels were not ready.

I purchased a couple of these so call 2 piece push in latches to hold the panels to the stand.

Here is the back of the panel. The panels have 1x2’s nailed and glued to the panel. The 1x2’s help the panel from bending and also holds one part of the push in latches.

Here is the other half on the stand.

They are also on the top of the openings. Its just hard to see.

I nailed and glued wood L trimmings to the end of the panel. It makes it easier to remove the front panel with them on.

And here is the tank on the stand.

The stand and canopy will be painted black. I will also put trimming on the front of the front panel to give it some depth.

I hope you don't mind if I stop by the next time I go to my parents to see that beautiful tank first hand! Speaking of hands, if you need a hand with anything let me know.

Thanks everyone. Setting this tank up has been a challenge. I can't wait to have this up and running already. The dehumidifier in the basement runs non-stop. I put a watt meter on it and to my disbelieve, that thing runs close to 700 watts. It doesn't matter if I have solar panels. My bill is going to be above $300. I know, some of you might think that's nothing, but we are use to seeing low electric bills. I've already warned the wife about it. It hasn't sunk in yet, until she sees the bill.LOL!

The next step is to paint the panels and the bottom of the tank black. I don't want the lights of the controllers to shoot up at the tank during lights off. This was one thing that bothered me with the 215.

Sure Brian, you can stop by. Just give me a heads up as I'm pretty busy these days. Thanks for the offer.
