(36*12*21)/231 = 39 gallons

or you can calc yourself.. (length x width x height)/231

I’m so old I helped Noah build the Ark. So I measured my tank tonight at

3.28 cubits x 0.94 cubits x 1.14 cubits

and used your formula to find that what I thought was 90 gallons only came to 0.02 gallons!!!!

My eighth grade Science teacher, Mrs Kieverac, repeated told us that if we did not use UNITS, the answer would automatically be marked wrong!

You know me….I’m just yanking chain here and amusing myself. You need to use inches in the above formula.

For those wishing to use cubits to calculate their tank volume, it's length x width x height in cubits, divided by 0.04. :p

Oh, and that is 0.04 cubic cubits/gallon

I don't know how many cubits my tank is but I know it weighs 89 stone... :)

Is that imperial gallons or US gallons :D

I actually had this discussion recently with a good friend which ended up with a conversation about fifths (750ml which equals 4/5ths of a quart) and imperial gallons which supposedly holds 5 quarts, dry ounces, fluid ounces and fluid measures of different things like wine ale and water ( apparently back in the day they were all different) and the different forms of measurement coming from the revolution of the colonies from Britain.

And yes, quite a few pints were raised during this discussion ( they were US pints not imperial pints)
