60g cube build

Well as many of you know I sold my 150gal about 2months ago for some personal issues. Well my daughter had a hard time when everything was sold and the tears came out. I didnt know she enjoyed that much. So for a couple of weeks she been asking for a fish tank again. Things have calmed down in my house so I decided to start something small just to get my daughter and my hands wet again. So I decided to build a 40 breeder setup. Since its the most popular size for a small tank.

Well here was my initial equipment list:

Stand : I will build
Tank :40 breeder
Sump : 40 breeder
Extra flow: four WP-25
Overflow : 700gph or 1500gph from glassholes.
Return pump : mag 9 ( t-off for Gfo & carbon )
Light : Fathom Led or ReefBreeders led
Skimmer : BM-NAC7 or also considering going skimmerless

Salt mix : Ill be using natural seawater from our great ocean.

Well here's the few things I collected for the build already.

Switched over from considering LEDs to a Tek 6x39 watt fixture thanks (phantomg23 )
Light combo I'm gonna use is Front to back :
Blue plus
Aqua blue
Blue plus
Blue plus
Purple plus
Blue plus

Skimmer : BM-NAC6 thanks to Mnat
Return pump : marineland NJ3000
1 two little fishes 150 reactor

So far that's the only equpiment I have gathered. More to come in weeks.

I think two of the WP25 or even one would be good enough. they can move water. I only plan on using two on my 80 gallon build.

I'm actually x-ing the wp25's. Since everyone has suggested to go with one wp25 and to do something else like a Korallia to alternate the flow. Since more then 1 wp25 would be overkill. So instead of having 2 different types of pumps in the display i just decided to go with two Tunze Nano 6045's
I want to keep everything even to the eye. That's why I decided that route.

Well today I ended up picking up about 50+ lbs of BRS dry base rock and a 40B from someone on CL for a $100.
Now I need to get another 40b for the sump.
Now that I have this rock Im gonna start cooking it to make sure it does leach any phosphate into the system.
I have been reading up on cooking LR so Ill start this process this weekend since its gonna take a few weeks to get this rock ready.

Since I have the my first 40B I can use this tank to start building my stand.

I'm starting to get exited.

Well picked up a JBJ ato the other day.

Well looks my 40b build might change again. A buddy of mine is giving me a 30x30x18 cube so looks like it will be about a 70gal display tank now.

Well I just started to cook my rock. I gave it a muriatic acid wash. Now I'm gonna let that dry out for a day or two.
After that I will give it a bleach bath. Let it dry out for a day or two as well. Then put it in a de- chlorination bath and then let it dry out. The put it in a 32gal brute trash can in NSW. To get the bacteria started. Until the tank is ready to put it in.

70 gallons now? Lets see if you hit 120 by the end of Sept.Lol. Good to see you back in the "Big" game Jose, cheers!

So in less then a year you went started with a 120, then said you were getting out. You got talked into staying and did for some time. Then you were out again. Then talked into staying by your daughter and figured you would go small. You decided on 40 and went and got a 70 instead. How did nobody see you coming. Oh yeah we did. Good luck with it.

Zippy. Thanks.
John I would've stayed with the 40b but I still needed 1 more fore sump. He giving it to me so I just couldn't pass it up. Lol.

Well I justed picked up my new but used tank. I have a little cleaning to do on the tank. Well it's not a 70 gal it's actually a 60 gal. The measurement is 28x28x18. Now I can finish my stand, since now I have the tank here.

Here's pic of the tank and stand. I have to add a couple more uprights on the stand just to reassure myself that nothing will occur. I'm considering getting a granite top for the stand since this is going to be upstairs.
What do you guys think about the granite top ? Or should I just do a piece of plywood ?
