From what I read on other sites you should do 2 moster water changes (75% or more, 100% best) and replace all your media.

Thanks for the response guys. I gonna do three 95% water changes in the next couple of days. And probably throw away the sand and do a acid bath on the rock.

What do you guys think or am I going to aggressive.

I wouldn't say to aggressive at all. How is your skimmer running? They say when you add that, being its a detergent it makes your skimmer go wacky. If you are going to acid bath the rock and trash the sand, why not just do a 100% water change and start fresh for good measure?

The skimmer went crazy last night. As of right now it's skimming normal. It pulled out a nice amount of foam from last night. The filter sock was also clogged so I changed that as well.

I'm gonna acid wash the rock tomorrow. Let them dry out for the weekend. And I'll tear the whole system down clean it start over again.
But this time with the correct ammonia.

Does ammonia really kick start a cycle faster than the shrimp method? Something about adding a cleaner to my tank makes me cringe. LOL.

On a side note, if you shake it and it foams up its no good. Most people seem to recommend Ace Ammonia Janitorial grade.

You can never be to aggressive when you are setting a tank up, mistakes now just snowball. You have the time and don't have to worry about live stock so go aggressive as you want.

For next time, Dr. Tim sells the ammonia on his website with the one and only which is perfect to start a cycle.

Well today after getting out of work I went and collected 95 gal of NSW. Picked up 60lbs of CaribSea live sand.
I get home to tear down my system to completely clean it. From my stupidity by not completely reading how to do a Fishless cycle the correct way. Well enough dowelling over that.
Walk into to the house and behold I have two packages. One from Aquacave and the other was my WP-25.
Well tore the system down got rid of the sand , acid washed the rock again. Cleaned the tank , sump , pump and skimmer.
The rock will sit over night to dry out. Then it should be safe to put back into the tank.
The tank was put back together and filled. Now tomorrow ill put the rock back in. Hang the new adjustable light fixture suspension system. Put the new bulbs in as well. And start the cycle process again.

Awwh im sorry that happened to you. youre a good sport though - I never would have thought to do all that but this hobby is definitely not for the weak of heart haha. Im still following along, I hope it starts to turn around this week !

Hey jose save yourself some money and time and just pee in the tank this time. Lol im serious. Its an ammonia source and ive heard of many people doing it to start a cycle up.

Thanks Jing. Yeah this is nothing I've been thru a lot on my last tank. So this incident is just a walk in the park.

Totally makes me think of the time I stepped on urchin in Jamaica and the nurse was like well, your boyfriend can pee on it first...naaa we will use the real stuff lol
