I have a chance to pick one up for cheap but the probe has been out of water for awhile does this affect it in anyway will I just need to recalibrate it or is the probe no good anymore and will I need to get a new one?
Thanks for any help,

New probe most likely. They must remain wet. It will be obvious if after calibrating it drifts all over the place. Mike, I've got calibration fluid if you need it

However, the nice thing about Pinpoint or Neptune probes is that they come with long cables….around 10 feet of so. I quickly looked up Pinpoint on amazon and found THIS ONE for ca $36 plus shipping.

One more point about pH probes….they can not be submerged. If they get submerged, they’re shot!

As others have said they need to be wet at all times. But also be careful if it's been stored for awhile. I broke the glass globe trying to get the cap off of my probe since it was fused on from being stored for a long time.
