Aggressive sps

Hey, new to the club but I have a question. At the most recent meeting I won an sps frag. It looks like an acro, green with a hint of blue at the tips. The cup said blue....the rest was not legible. I think this guy is a bit aggressive. At night it will send out these long mucous like strands. Not every night, but only at night and theY remain attached to the poly end. I do not believe them to be tentacles, but I do believe they are mucous and nematocysts laced. Are sps acro like corals aggressive? I have kept it away from any others. Really not willing to sacrifice another for my curiosity. Well if anyone has some input let me know...and if you know what the coral is/was that would be great to. Thanks. Pete

If I am correct I think the frag was donated by herbiek. It is a beautiful piece and I want to keep it happy...and all others safe!

SPS do have feeder tentacles which is what you are witnessing. They can be quite powerful in their sting so just give it some room and it will be fine.

Can you post a picture of it? With lights on to id and maybe one at night during the event?

Here is a pic when my green slimer did it. Oddly enough it from Herbie's tank also. This happened right after lights out when I fed cyclops. I popped the lights on to get the pic.

This coral has never attacked anything. But I have had my red planet wipe out a rainbow monti frag that was to close.

That is what it looks like! Not the same coral but yes to those long strands that are gone by morning. It seems fine and I have given it space taking into account water flow direction with adjacent corals. Thanks!
