Ai hydra 26, 52

So I just picked up a 40b and I’m looking for some lights. Someone has the hydra 26(wants 250 also comes with mount), 52(wants 350), and 52hd(wants 400). I was thinking about getting the 26 for now until I can afford another one. It does look like it has some cosmetic damage so I was wondering what people think and what they would offer?

My only concern about the hydra 26 is the spread. I've got 2 AI primes, nice coverage, and it's plenty of light. More than enough for LPS and zoa's. Can easily crank it up for more intense corals too. If you're buying used, you'd end up spending about the same for the pair.

Hydra 26 is def not enough. Keep.your eyes out on r2r theres always quick deals on the 26hd's I'd get 2 for coverage on the tank. I actually have 2 26s over a 30g frag tank which is 24x24 and it's still kinda weak at the edges.

@motortrendz Do you think 2 kessil a160we would work or the two primes like Wilson states? I’d prefer the primes because of the app, don’t have to spend an extra 100 on controller, and I already have the 16hd reef on my 20g. Someones got the a160 new on r2r for 200 each

I think the primes once again are gonna be 2 small. You really need 2 hydra 26s at minimum... I cant speak for the kessil I've never used them. But I'm pretty sure @DangerDave is a kessil guy. He should know.

I have 2 primes over my 40, and 2 26s over my 75.

To each their own I guess.

I guess it really depends how much coverage and intensity your looking for. In my frag tank, which houses mostly sps I had to put 2-26s against each other to make a square to get good even coverage and enough light were I need it

2x 160we should work. I think they will cover 24 diameter, 24-30 deep. 2x 360 would be better if you could swing it...

So then what would be the equivalent of the kessil 360 to prime, would that be 32s? I’ve read that a lot of people have received the 32 with driver faults though straight out of box

Just a loose rf chip. Gets knocked loose during shipping. It just gets pushed back in and it works fine.
