Ok, not sure if this is a dumb question or not but do aptasia move. There is one that I always see, then today I see one an inch away and I don't see the one that I usually do it it's spot.
I think that's what happening here. This is in my 1.5 pico and I'd like an opinion if Joes Juice would be safe in a small tank. I really don't want to pull the rock out since everything is resting on this one piece. I'd hate to disrurb it.
I had 2 aiptasias, I can't tell you about Joe's juice or kalk, JasonR give me the idea of injectting them with boiling hot water using a syringe, That's how I got ride of mine and have not seen them since.
OK I have an infestation of this stuff!!!
Just found them all last nite!
And I was doing some research on the pests!
I read that peppermint shrimp are predators of these pests!?!
Also another treatment would be Lemon Juice!?!?
Does anyone have any pros or cons on these?????
We put a klein's butterfly in our tank and let me tell you he has wiped out 75% in less the 2 weeks he just needs to get brave enough to get to the other side of the tank. He is small but he is mighty
I heard that the butterfly is also a good predator!
But I need to do some compatibility checks with all my other livestock and corals....
Thanks for the input!
OK that species is compatible with my other live stock but all the data states that it
likes to eat soft corals....
I have a xenia, and some small zoas polyps in my tank...
Do you have anything similar in your tank????
If so did you have any issues???
Just a heads up the aiptasia it is now gone he moved to the the other side of the tank yesterday and I don't see 1 aiptasia that I saw before. What is really neat about him is he eats all the food we feed and also cleans up aiptasia. He's a keeper
I put three of them in my tank and my lunare wrasse and clownfish and damsel had a feast!!! Within 3 seconds!
I was able to save one and put it in my fuge!!!
So I guess it's onto the butterfly fish!!!
Wish me luck!!!
Just heads up - be sure the butterfly is okay at the LFS - they tend to be fragile and poor shippers - the copperbands at least...and those are the type you'll need to get for aiptasia.
That stated - why not try Joes Juice? A butterfly may end up picking on your other corals too.
actually they are hardier of all the butterflies. Joes's juice doesn't work Aiptasia x works but it hurts coral I have 5 p shrimp in my tank and they wait for the food to come in the tank
