In the context of this thread, I think advocating the purchase of a CBB for aiptasia control is not ideal. A CBB may indeed last a long time if properly taken care of, but I think the odds are against us.
I'm going off what Scott W. Michael wrote in an article for Aquarium Fish International.
"CBB typically does not fare well in home aquariums, which may be due to handling stressors and or the aquarium conditions it is subjected to. Some may settle in right away and being eating fresh/frozen foos, while others refuse to feed requiring live foods. Those collected from Australia fare better than those collected from the Philippines. In addition some individuals will ignore glass (aiptasia) anemones. Furthermore the fish does not eradicate the anemones, only nips them so that they don't proliferate. When the fish is removed, the anemones will reappear. Finally the CBB will decimate any and all bristle worms in the tank, including fan and christmas tree worms. Some individuals are known to nip at LPS, softies and zoas." Sept 2007 issue.
