aiptasia

so i found an aiptasia in my tank. and maybe a second baby next to it (about an inch away) - but it could just be a tiny feather duster.
anybody wanna share what they did to get rid of em?
i have read about injecting the base with kalk, pour kalk paste over the nem, and that there is a nudibranch that eats them. im guessing since i see one, there are probably more hidden in the rockwork (i know a xenia fragment has attached behind the rocks and been doing fin for months now, so i suspect an aiptasia could do the same). should i get some of those nudibranchs?

Heat up a coffee cup of RO/DI water in the microwave. Using a turkey baster, give the little SOB a shot of boiling water. Using this method, no chemicals in the tank.

I used the nudibranch, berghia, I believe is their name. Worked well for me but once they eat all the apps they starve to death which kind of made me feel bad.

i think i have a new syringe needle somewhere in the tank drawers (i always have spare syringes for dosing, but never needed the needles), if i can find it, ill try shooting it up with some vinegar, if i can manage to stick it. the bugger is positioned in a crack with just the crown ontop sticking out, so it might be tough to hit the body. if i cant do it ill just pour boiling water on it. if any more pop up ill get the nudibranch (once it looks like they are all gone, ill give it a week to make sure that there arent any regrowing, and then ill try to get it out - id rather it not die).

I have this same problem. I have a big one that is hard to get to and retracts real fast when hit by anything. I use a diabetic syringe and super saturate rodi with kalk. Then I microwave it to boiling use the syringe to inject the aipstasia. Instant death if you can get at the bugger. I am contemplating making a 1 watt laser and burn the sucker that way, just have not come up with the scratch yet :)

If it's wedged pretty good inside the live rock you can cover it and the hole it's in with some super glue gel. After a few days you can break off the superglue or just leave it. It has worked well for me in the past.

found my needle and injected the ****er. it actually fell off the rock (or a large chunk got ripped off as i stabbed it 3 times - injected each time so at least one hopefully actually got in) so i pulled that bit out. then i examined the little thing and determined its more likely a second nem, and since its too small to inject, i covered it with kalk paste. hopefully i noticed early enough that there wont be a big problem.

How many apps did you have? I have heard you need a pretty good size infestation for the nudis to work
