Aiptasia!

I have been trying to keep ahead of this pest with Aiptasia X but it feels like a losing proposition. I have read that banded shrimp are good natural predators. Is that right? Are there other choices? I have a 20 gallon tank so I have to be careful with my livestock choices. Also, I run topless and worry about them jumping. Any input is appreciated.

Peppermint shrimp can eat aiptasia, but it is not guarenteed. A 20g tank leaves you very limited as far as fish go that eat them, so I would not look there. Try using epoxy to seal them over.

Kalk mixed with water works too and there are some other store bought remedies also.

I had a nano with 50+ aptasia and started using concentrated lemon juice. The issue was with such a small tank I would have ended up with a large bowl of lemonade. So what I did was boil a mug of RO/DI water in the microwave and using a turkey baster cooked the little SOB's. I did this over the course of two to three weeks. Some took 2 or 3 treatments, but the tank is now aptasia free.

copperband butterfly fish works great. Never bothered any of my corals.
