Air stones

I just want to get some opinions on having an airstone in a reef tank. Good or bad?

I have an air stone, but only use it as a battery back up....

There will be an issue with salt creep and there has been mixed reviews about it affecting your tanks PH. But on the other hand folks use them for micro bubble scrubbing

I have never used one except that some nano skimmers use them to produce skimmate..thw bio cube skimmer uses a wooden air stone to operate

I agree with Marcus regarding salt creep. I only used it during the winter when the house is all closed up to keep the PH up.

Thanks guys. I just used it to get rid of red slime algae meds...but was wondering if it was ok to use on hot days

I dont see an issue there are some youtube videos of Pico reefs and vase reefs using only a air stone check out vase reefs on youtube aside from salt creep as a negative they do add to circulation
and i do use a battery back up air stone pump when i have power outages but i guess they werent long enough to see any real negative effect
