Ale of the season

I started a similar thread back in oct. To celebrate the Oktoberfest season. So it just seemed fitting to get another going this season. What's everyone got in the fridge this time of year. I just got turned on to a relatively local brewery, weyerbaker located in Easton,pa. I think they are one of the closer breweries to me since riverhorse moved from lambertville.

I've been drinking 2XMAS as of late. Its a spicy beer. Little stronger than most at almost 9% I think. Can't think of who makes me it for some reason. Perhaps I drank too many lol

Rude elf 10% packs a punch. Weyerbaker winter ale is a real good one tho it's a tough one to find. Tonight after an early morning long day of plowing I stopped on my way home stunned to see Sam Adams harvest pumpkin so that's what's putting my to bed tonight.

I actually bought miller lite to have around the house because I am trying to lose some weight before our Aruba trip. However, I was at Monks a few weeks ago for Nikki's birthday and yesterday was the beer bourbon and bbq event in NYC so I was able to taste the following beers:

Pliny the Elder
Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
Lucky Buddha (made in China but really refreshing nice beer)
Ommegang Three Philosphers
Sombodies Toasted ale (forget the brewer)
Golden Monkey 19 year version
Heavy Seas Siren Noire (this is really good)
Several others I am forgetting.

I no longer imbibe the suds like I use to, and was never into the niche stuff, but my go-to ale back in the day was Ballantine. I know it's a mass produced ale, but for me it was one of the best. I don't even know if they still make it, but it was good stuff.....and the puzzles in the caps were fun too.

I normally lean towards Blue Moon's "Winter moon" this time of year but I gave Sam Adam's Winter Lager a try and it's tasty!

If you dig Sam winter lager try the Sam white christmas. I did have one of their other new ones "cold snap" ehh just didn't do it for me

At the beer bourbon and BBQ fest, they actually had a stand that had PBR and Ballantines' on tap.

It had (or maybe still has) a mild skunky taste. That doesn't sound nice, but it was.....for old timers anyway. Dance

This talk about Ballantine sparked my interest, so I looked into it. Ballantine was sold to Falstaff, who later sold it to Pabst. Pabst made it for some time, but then stopped. In 2012 they decided to relaunch, but had to formulate the recipe. (It was as if they lost the original recipe.) So it is now for sale again. I'm now curious if it still has that same taste. I'll be looking for it now.
