Just be careful with turning the reactor off completely. You dont want to drop your levels too quickly. Looks like your amount of coral is still low, so consumption should be slow. Just monitor daily to make sure.
Nice to read all of the above. I have been diAling in my calcium reactor. I have very low coral/ca use right now. I am planning to build a larger calcium reactor. The one I have is for a 150 g tank. Been testing the last few nights I had upped the water flow through the reactor (increased effluent to tank) and it pushed up my mag to 1600. So I reset my effluent output to 60 ml per minute and approx 65 bubbles per minute. I have the pinpoint ph controller so it's really a fail safe. My numbers 7.5 kh. Ca 500. Mag 1500. Temp 78. Salinity 1.026. The pinpoint lets you set a midrange low and high for the ph in the reactor. I set my probe in an external collection cup that drips into a media filled (extra parts) tank overflow. It strips out any co2 after the effluent leaves the reactor. My diy reactor will have a port for the probe. It's funny I hated chemistry in high school. And now I'm Beaker
Hello everyone, thanks for your responses. I was not aware that some acro crabs are actually bad for coral. A rather large gorilla crab resided in this stylo. I thought they had a symbiotic relationship today the coral looked worse. The crab was eating away at it skeleton. After reading some of the threads and speaking with some people I learned that this crab needed to go. The crab is out of the Stylo. Would anyone like to adopt the gorilla crab? It is free..lol
I had a nasty crab that killed some fish. It was white with black claws. Gave it to Austin at trop. He put it in a tank in the back that he had other in welcome crabs .
Not really, you don't have to worry about this parameter like others in terms of how fast to raise or lower. 1350-1450 is ideal and you can raise it as fast as you like.
