Algea gone wild

So the algea is the same, maybe a little worste. Its goofy. I syphon most of it out and it comes back looking worste in a day or so. Another thing is I noticed my tds coming out of my di is reading 5. So I'm guessing this might be the culprit of my algea/brown slime bloom.

If you TDS is 5. on the out put that can be a big problem. I would replace your DI Resin, Carbon & Sediment filter. Then retest your TDS. if you still get a TDS reading you might have to replace your R/O Membrane.
Your TDS out put should be 0.

To take that one step further, I would just go ahead and replace the membrane as well. If you replace the DI and get zero that's great, but if the membrane is shot you will eat through that DI quickly. Do you happen to know what your readings coming out of your membrane are?

out of the membrane is between 3-8 depending on the time of day. Its a constant 5 out of the DI. Is high water flow through the DI okay? I don't know if this is a problem or not. The way my setup is

Sediment Carbon Carbon RO Pressure tank then DI so when I turn it on its pushing through pretty quick. Should I slow it down to see if that works first? I do plan on getting DI in the near future regaurdless.

I’m not convinced you need a new membrane. Knowledge of you ejection rate and in coming TDS will easily tell you if you need a new membrane. The best ejection rate I’m aware of is 98%, and the worst I’ve heard is 75% (go figure?). If you have a 98% membrane and your incoming TDS is in the 3-400 range, that 5 – 8 TDS is normal. So simply change your DI resin. I’m not sure what the benefit would be to put a second DI unit on line, short of splitting the resin (anion/cation, just like a Kati/Ani system), and running it that way. It makes regeneration the resin a snap.

Has this been I'd? From his description and the photos it sounds like it might be dinos. Which are a whole different beast to deal with. I battled them for the past few months.

ThatGuy, does it look like long string with a bubble at the end? Does it dissappear overnight and then get worse during the day?

So the high rate that the water is getting pushed through there DI shouldn't affect it. Also the algea looks like dino minus the bubbles. Might be because of the water flow.

Changed DI and its reading 0. Also changed out the gfo and cut the lights back from 10 hrs to 7hrs. Algea seems to be dissappearing.
