Any one tried to use a Flexible Drill bit for coral mount?

This topic was started on different thread, to avoid stealing that topic, i am going to restart the conversation here...

i saw someone using a underwater drill and started all these side questions...

(1)
i especially like his UNDER WATER DRILL!!
where can we get a smaller version of such cool toy!?

HERE’s
Harbor Freight’s pneumatic drill. Not the greatest quality, but the price is right.

Note that you will need a compressor and hose to run this drill.

EDIT TO ADD: Just found THIS smaller and cheaper one. And a pneumatic die grinder HERE.

Paul,

thank's for the good find, can we just use it? or really need to like that guy said - take it apart and remove all the geese or oil came with the tools?

i think may be what we really need is a long flexible drill bit?? (for our small tank)

thx

David, I’d be a bit leery using this tool directly in the tank. As a new tool, it most likely is covered with cosmoline (a rust preventive grease used on tools), and also most likely is packed with pneumatic grease/oil on the moving parts. Most (if not all) pneumatic tools require pneumatic grease/oil. You will want to wash this all out before using in your tank.

And flexible drill extensions (not from Harbor Freight), are also available if you want to take that route. HERE is one example of what you could use. This might be a better route since most, if not all of use, have a drill, but very few have a compressor and air line to reach our tanks.

I often considered the flexible extention, but wouldn't it have grease or graphite or something in it for lubrication?
