Any options on wavemakers not dependent on powerheads?

I've heard mixed reviews on the SCWD. Does anyone know of any other options for wavemakers that can be installed outside your tank, that can be installed within your plumb lines? I'm trying to avoid showing any powerheads or pipes in my tank. Thanks.

pipes are unavoidable if you don't have powerheads.
check out the oceans motions squirt, and 4way.

Yup, the oceans motions stuff. Although I hear mixed things about them too. Maybe some closed loops on timers?

Ocean motions would be the way to go. You can also get creative with hole placement in your tank to keep plumbing to a minimum. Vortechs, though technically a powerhead, is pretty nonobtrusive as well.

Thanks for the feedback. This is what I am looking for. Yea, I was thinking either a Vortech or holes in the back of the tank with. The Ocean Motion sounds like a decent option and something that would suite me. But it seems like the Ocean Motions aren't widely sold. Does anyone have any experience with this wave maker?

BTW...I just redid my 125 the beginning of this year, and (thought) I had it where I wanted it. This reef stuff is a bottomless pit in my wallet!! lol

i have a 4way right now as a matter of fact. i think it's great. no heat in the tank from it, or the external pump that powers it.

i'm looking to sell my oceans motions 4 way and i have a choice of 2 pumps to go with it (a reeflo barracuda, and a pressure rated 4200SEQ12.
actually, i'm looking to sell the entire in wall display, but that's another thread...

if you have a canopy i would go over the top with the returns instead of making the back pane look like swiss cheese.
the hidden reef sold OM products last i checked. in that glass case as you walk in to the left infront of the office.

David(malulu) has a completely different sort of wave box pretty cool check it out think he had the diagram on how to build too.

I would recommend the oceanmotions products as well for a 6' tank. They're a great product and well worth the money IMO/IME. I went over the top with my 4 returns because I don't like the idea of holes below the water line (eventually they'll leak).
SCWDs are a good option for smaller tanks but aren't powerful enough for a 6' tank. I had 2 on my 125 and switched them out for the oceanmotions Super Squirt.
