Anybody keeping any acro crabs?

I had one in a tri color a while ago but he's long gone. Does anyone keep any in their acro's? Do they ever do harm to the coral and annoy it into not fully opening? The coral he was in actually seems to be doing great now, but I changed a lot with the tank too since i last seen him. It was a while ago

I have one that I got a month ago. He is in a birdsnet that is partly dead, so I guess I can't be of much help with your question.

We recently bought a pocillopora colony that had two inside there. We thought they were a mated pair because they would not share if they were not. Of course as soon as the colony was in the tank one jumped ship into our birdsnest mini colony. The birdsnest is doing fine with the acro crab in it as that is really the only piece I have seen it before/after with the crab. The pocill colony is not doing well but I don't think that has anything to do with the crab.

The theory behind the acro crab is is clears of the mucus that inhibits growth on the SPS colony. So the SPS benefits with better growth and the crab gets a free lunch and some protection within the colony.

Our local LFS had them living on a big pocillipora colony and my wife went "Oh I want that!" so now we have acro crabs.

I'm the wife who wanted the acro crabs. . . we got ours at Trop. They usually have them.
We were in Reef to Reptiles today, he had three different species on three different corals (including a really pretty blue/white one that almost came home with me).

Actually, two of the three he had were on new colonies, and the third was the least pretty of the bunch.
