You could well end up with lessons from 3 to 5 people on how to frag as each type of coral (each coral, in some cases) requires its own way of fragging. Some people will be better at fraggin some corals than others. Branching frogspawn is easy, just break off a branch, same with most SPS, really. Zoos I'd like to get a better handle on so I can't really comment. Some other LPS can just be cut with a tile saw. Dremel tool can be used for most other things. Leathers just cut off a branch. Leathers can be wedged, sewn down or strapped to a rock while you're waiting for it to attach. Shrooms can be cut off the stalk and held to rock with veil material. Even cut in half or quarters if you wish.

A great source for "How to's" is garf... www.garf.org. They have a lot of various fragging instructions.

What do you want to frag?

I want to frag some zoo's, candy cane, Kenya tree. I really want to move some zoo's that are growing on the same piece of rock as my candy cane.

Is any one good at moving zoo's that could show me how? I have never done it before and really don't want to take a chance in killing them.

Did you say beer ;) Just kidding.
I’m a moderator of fragexchange (thanks Rich) and have done many a coral but I’m no expert. Maybe we could work something out. I’m not interested in anything but educating reefers so I don’t want any frags or trades. But I will help if I can.
Where are you located?
With zo’s you need to be weary of the Palytoxins but they are easy to work with. The Kenya tree is also easy to frag not so easy to attach to a piece of rubble. But there are many options. Toothpicks, bridals veil, and most important time.
Ask away or maybe we can schedule a time to meet and go over things. It’s always easier in person.

Thanks Sharks,
I learn better by watching and doing not so much by reading. I'm in Toms River let me know if you want to get together I could PM you my number.

How about some fragging demos at one of our next meetings? Or schedule a seperate meeting just for fragging and mounting demos.

That is a good idea Marce.... I second that for a meeting.

Now to find someone at FragExchange who'll come and give a demo... puts hand on chin Now who could we get...

If I only had the time. I was trying to get to the meeting last weekend but once again life got in the way and I had to help a friend cable his new house for TV and a home network.
I know there are a lot of people around here fragging so maybe we could plan a fragging party? A couple years ago a few of us chipped in to order 5-6 large acros and we fragged them at one of the meetings. But we all took the frags home and mounted them after the meeting. I’m down to mostly SPS corals and they’re easy to frag. My leathers frag themselves and I just let them attach on their own.
I have the tools but not the corals. Anyone need to borrow a wet saw?

Oh Brian! He fragged that right after you left. Bummer, huh?

Seriously, with all the frag watchers there really wasn't enough time for the fragging demo. The hazard to holding the meeting in his shop!

Ok let's see if this works. Here are some pic's.
