Anyone got a phosban reactor???

Lil' low on funds but my phosphates are a bit hight and in addition to changing my cartridges in my RO/DI, I'd like to run some GFO. Anyone with a lil help??? I am in Atlantic City and can travel a bit.

if you got a sump a baffle or a sump with filtersocks you can place your media in a nylon stocking and place it where there is lots of flow. in the filtersock between a baffle etc.... until you get some cash to grab a reactor.

Thats a great idea. Just fill a filter sock and place it between two of the baffles? Should I use GFO or Chemipure?

Chemipure Elite has Ferric Oxide in with the carbon and will remove phosphates.

It will be in it's own mesh bag when you buy it. I'd suggest getting that and just wedge it in your baffles for now. Try to cover the whole width of the sump, so you might need to get a few of the Chemipure elites.

Rinse it good in RODI water first!

You can, but it's not recommended. It can tend to clump up if it isn't tumbling, which is why the reactors are used.

OK...so a few bags of CP Elite in between the baffles, all the way across the sump so the water has to pass thru the carbon? How often do I replace it? Stuff gets expensive.

There is a life on it, depends on how much it is used up.

I use KENT Phosphate Sponge in a media bag in my 28g in the rear compartment. It does not clump up at all..... The reactor is better since the GFO tumbles the water will hit more of the surface area VS trying to force its way though the media bag...

If i remember correctly, ChemiPure elite package says replace every 6 months. I replace it every two months.

Before I had my reactors setup I had the GFO in the return pump section. If you are going to jam it into the baffles in your sump just be careful that it does not over flow or the water volume does not get too low in the return pump area. As other mentioned the key is you want to get as much water flow through the GFO/chemipure elite as you can without clogging. The TLF reactor can generally be found out there for very cheap and might be something you can track down used.

I have a Kent Phosban reactor a bit old and battered but works fine. Not sure if I have a pump for it. Plus I am in 07735.
Let me know and I will try and find a pump in my boxes of junk. Either way you are welcome to it if you want to drive up.
