Anyone local with a zapper?

Is there anyone local or semi local to me in East Hanover, 07936 that has an Aptasia zapper? My tank in getting overrun with them and will soon be at plague proportions! IT's really bad right now! They are everywhere.

I've tried kalk, peppermints, manual removal, cut backed feedings, etc with no luck. They are starting to encroach and sting corals.

Someone please help....... :'( :'(

I just read this on another forum

"After a discussion with a local reefer, the biggest weakness of the Majanos is light. The best part about these creatures, is they will migrate like pilgrims in order to find it. He advised me to get a small, round, spot light 60-100 watts.
Put it in the corner of the tank, where the rock is at it's highest. Add an empty rock between the light and the top of the rock stack. Turn off all the other lights. Prevent any light from getting into the tank.
Leave the other lights off for a day or two. The majanos will move, extremely quickly, towards the single source of light. Don't point it accross the tank. The more concentrated spot, the better.

As they leave their crevices, and crawl towards the top, you can waft your hand over them, or flick them slightly, and they will let loose. It will take a day for them to get moving, but believe me, they'll head toward the light. They'll crawl on the back glass, and up onto the empty rock. I'm going to use an empty rock and a piece of acrylic as substrate bait."

It's worth a try.

It's worth a try or you could try a copperband butterfly and/or berghia nudibranchs. I erradicated my aptasia infestation with a combination of 6 peppermint shrimp, 4 berghias & a copperband introduced all at the same time.
Personally I don't think peppermint shrimp will eat large or healthy aptasia, just the babies or wounded ones.

Steve, this is a new product so it is likely that nobody has purchased one in the area yet. From the sounds of the severity of your problem its probably worth the investment for you.

I have one of those zappers. Its good if the Majanos is out in the open. But when they are in the back of the tank or in a rock that is hard to get to it is impossible to get to them. I got a Doubleback Butter Fly fish. The the problem was gone over night. And I had thousands of them.

I can lend you my zapper if you want to come to my job in Bridgewater to pick it up.

Paul....do NJRC members get a discount?

I am not sure but I can find out. I am not involved in that end of the business, as a matter of fact, I am not involved in almost any aspect of the business, I just invented the thing and let someone else do the business part. I am hapily retired.
Majanowand.com is the web site where you can get information.
