Anyone local with a zapper?

well, my 40 breeder was beautiful!! tons of sps, beautiful rock work! i started getting an outbreak of aptasia, and a friend said he had this "zapper" and would get rid of them. i was stoked! so i used it, and yes they were gone. but within a few weeks they came back in a vengence!!! 20x more than before! it was like the zapper just help them spread! and i know i used it correctly. now i have an *** ugly tank with 1000 aptasia!

I doubt that the zapper had anything to do with the additional propagation of the aptaisia.

Have you tried any of these:

and/or these:

I asked this question when this zapper first appeared on this site. Does the anemone release any spores before it's completely zapped? I never received a answer. The other methods usually seal the mouth before the anemone can react and then destroy the individual. I would think that if there is a electrical current introduced near a aptasia or majamo they would perceive this as a threat and release their spores making the situation worse. JMO

totally agree! to have an explosion in aptasia population right after using an electrical device to kill something underwater....i think the zapper def caused it.

Update:All came back apart from 3.. I Just hit them all with aip X just now .. The peppermint i put in there last week in MIA but we all know how that can be

I've been using the lye method and it seems to be working quite well. I just have so many still and I don't want to put too much lye and kalk in my tank at once. I try to do it every other day.

This very well might be true. I don't know for sure but I won't be using the zapper again if I ever have a problem again. Like Mark I broke the tank down and started over.
